Smackdown Show Notes April 19/20

Fatal 4-way between Street Profits/New Catch Republic/Authors of Pain/Legado Del Fantasma for the right to face the new Smackdown Tag holders Theory/Waller.

Bayley puts her Smackdown Women’s title on the line against Naomi.

**A.J. Styles facing L.A. Knight in a rematch from Wrestlemania for the right to a title match against Cody. It was a good match to lead off the show. Styles would come out on top for the right to face Cody at Backlash in Lyon, France

**Solo Sokia has made himself the new Tribal chief, with Tama as his enforcer. (Bloodline story has made for some interesting reading. Rumour has it that at Summerslam it could be, Roman (babyface) with Jimmy, Jey facing Solo, and Tama along with a 3rd Bloodline member) Solo/Tama went after Kevin Owens. Tama tried to go after Kevin with a chair but Nick in the ring with various security stopped it. Paul Heyman is scared silly, to say the least.

**Triple H with Nick Aldis to present new tag belts to Theory/Waller. WWE Tag Team Champions. The boys were disrespectful to Triple H, Nick told them that if it keeps up, Nick will make the titles disappear. Faral-4 was between Street Profits, The New Catch Republic, A.P.O and Legado Del Fantasma. Fatal-4 ways are always chaotic but the Street Profits would stand tall.

**Carlito on the way to the ring with Zelina to face off against Santos Escobar/Elektra Lopez.

**Kayla Braxton in a short interview with Dakota Kai/Kabukai Warriors. Dakota said that Iyo would take her title back on her terms. Dakota goes off saying how much of a force they are in the WWE, but they did not plan on The Storm showing up, (Jade/Bianca) showing up.

**Naomi with her title shot against Bayley. It was a decent match. You knew Bayley would hold on to the title but Naomi would give it a good go. Tiffany Straton interfered, taking them both out. Just wait til Charlotte returns and we will see who is the center of the universe then.

NXT Show Notes April 16/17

The opening match was Noam Dar facing Diajk, this should have been a too-easy win for Dijak but thanks to help, I don’t know how it was Noam with the win. Just wondering if this is a fued or if Dijak will be drafted up to the Main Roster. I am not a Metafore fan at all. I used to like Dijak before the turn, he is still good, and I have the respect that he deserves.

A new special starts next week called, Spring Breakin. Ilja is given the option of an open challenge to the locker room, whoever stands face to face with Ilja in the ring, gets the chance.

**Match 2 — Lola Vice is on her way to the ring to face off against Sol Ruca. Sol has really returned well after Blair Davenport, took her out for 9 months. It was a good match, you can see the quality of how good the Women’s division is. Sol within seconds of the win but it was Blair who made sure that Lola got the win. Natalya on the big screen, in 2 weeks Natalya facing Lola in the Underground.

Tony DÁngelo out to the ring with the family. No Quarter Catch Crew facing the D’Angelo family in a 6 man tag team at Spring Breakin (night 1)

**Match 3 — Ilja Dragunov facing Je’Von Evans in a match. Je’Von came from the right side of the screen the opposite side to get in the ring. It was a good match and you can see where Je’Von will hold a belt one day. Ilja had to earn that win, which was good for him but also good for Je’Von to test his ability. (title is not on the line)

**Match 4 — Thea Hail with Chase U facing Tatum Paxley. (this one is going to get weird) The only reason why Tatum was friends with Lyra was due to the Women’s Title, but now with Roxy holding the belt, things have changed. Thanks to Jacy interfering, Tatum with the win but you don’t tick off a pocket rocket like Thea, expecting to walk away. While trying to pull Thea/Jacy apart, Lyra is in the ring taking Tatum apart.

Ava just announced that Roxy will defend the title at Spring Breakin in a triple threat match against Tatum Paxley/Lyra

Sol Ruca facing Blair Davenport in a No holds Bar match at Spring Breakin (night 1)

**Match 5 — Ivar facing Josh Briggs (just cleared by medical with cracked Ribs) Ivar suggested to Josh to take a little longer to get healed but he was having none of it. They met in the ring with Ivar getting the win. (Oba Femi watch in the locker room)

Ilja Dragunov facing Trick Williams for the NXT Men’s title. If Trick loses, he leaves NXT.

**Match 6 — Steel Cage Between Trick Williams once again facing Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo with his security, thinks he is so much better than Trick. Carmelo is doing anything and everything he can to make sure that Trick does not succeed no matter what. Security Guards started trying to climb into the cage to stop Trick at all costs. Thanks, to help from a steel chair, Trick with the win.

RAW Show Notes for April 15/16

This should be another interesting show. I am reading some interesting possible matches already on the cards for Summerslam.

Tonights Card:

**8 — Jey Uso facing Finn Balor — What a great win for Jey facing Damien in a couple of weeks. Here we go with a typical Judgement Day beatdown.

**9 — Samy Zayn defending the Intercontentional title against Chad Gable. It was a good match. It could have gone either way but with Backlash in a few weeks, I couldn’t see the title change hands. I won’t give away the end but Chad has turned heel.

**5 — Andrade vs Dirty Dom — Adnrade with the win, no surprise there but Ricochet is out to help make it a fair fight when Dom/JD started a beatdown on Andrade

**6 — Katana Chance/Kayden Carter vs. Chelsea Green/Piper Niven.

** 1 — Rhea talks about being attacked by Liv Morgan. Rhea is out first, she has her arm in a sling, on day 380 of holding the title. Rhea is out until further notice. No news on the extent of her injury but it happened on the April 8 edition of RAW.

**7 — Cody Rhodes makes an appearance. Thanking everyone and giving Jey Uso a push

**2 — Sheamus Returns to face Ivar. This should be good. It was a little rough but Sheamus with the win.

**3 — Awesome Truth getting new Tag Tam Belts. They will be known as the World Tag Team Champions. #1 contenders match between, New Day, DIY and Creed Brothers. It’s DIY who will face Awesome Truth at Backlash.

**4 — Candice LaRae/Indi Hartwell facing Ivy Nile/Maxinne Dupree in tag action. Candice/Indi steal the win.

The backlash card starting to build.

Fallout from Wrestlemania on Smackdown

It has been an interesting week with the fallout of what happened during a great weekend.

Samantha who was overcome with emotion when Cody won, was sharing with the rest of the world how a lot of us were feeling. (even Hubby and I were both crying)

(Remember when Undertaker appeared behind the rock, that was supposed to be Stone Cold but they couldn’t get the details worked out to get Steve there)

Becky and Seth will be taking some time off to get some rest, Seth needs to heal, try to figure out if he needs some surgery or will time away and rest be the best option.

There are 2 triple-threat matches today, to decide who will be the #1 Contender who will meet Cody for a chance at the Undisputed title. In the first match is Bobby Lashley, L.A. Knight and Santos Escobar. (It’s Knight for me) I got my wish, Knight with the win, everyone tried to help their boy but in the end, Knight got the job done.

This will be Bayley’s first appearance since winning the title. Will be interesting to see what Damage Control will try to pull. Bayley is in the ring now but as I just said to Hubby, where is Damage Control? It was Tiffany Straton who walked out to take up the open challenge, according to her it’s Tiffy time? Naomi facing Tiffy for the right to meet Bayley in a title shot. Naomi with the win.

Goosebump moment as always when Cody comes out, the crowd singing his theme.

**RUMOUR — is that it will be Cody facing Rock at Summerslam

Bloodline (solo, Paul Heyman, Jimmy) is ticked off, and they went to go into what used to be Roman’s locker room. Paul stopped him, reminding him that it was not theirs anymore. The only way to return to the locker room is to take the belt back. (won’t happen anytime soon)

Paul Heyman along with Solo and Jimmy are on the way to the ring. The Son of Haku (Tanga) just showed up taking Jimmy out. Solo hit Jimmy with at least 3 spikes. (new member of the Bloodline) Jimmy is laid out in the middle of the ring. Solo smashed Paul’s phone, and they are about to take Jimmy out with a steal chair. (what kind of storyline does this create between Jey/Jimmy)

Cameron Grimes who we have not seen for a bit, is back in a match against Braun Brekker. This won’t end well for Cameron.

Tag team match between Piper Niven/Chelsea Green facing Jade Cargill/Bianca Belair. Needless to say, that match didn’t last long. I would love to see Jade/Bianca in a tag team run, getting the belts.

Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, and A.J. Styles facing off to see who will meet L. A Knight for the right to face Cody at Backlash in France. We have a rematch from Wrestlemania with A.J. Styles facing L.A. Knight.

Fallout from Stand and Deliver

The show opened with Roxanne Perez, being the resident mean girl. (heel turn) I liked her better as a baby face. Tatum Paxley took out Lyra, making sure she couldn’t compete. I am not sure if it’s a real injury or just a storyline. Natalya has shown up to challenge Roxy to a title match. Roxy said no but it was Ava who had the final say. Roxy screaming that it is her show.

It’s a Stand and Deliver rematch between Axium/Nathan Frazer against Barron Corbin/Braun Brekker for the Tag Team titles.

Fallon Henly/Kelani Jordon facing Izzi Dane/Kiana James in a tag match. This is post their match from Stand and Deliver. It would be the Mean Girls club of Izzi/Kiana getting the win this time.

Newcomer to NXT Je’von Evans facing Scrypts. Je’von is only 19 years old but he is excellent. You should see the height he is getting off the ropes. He is quick, and always thinking ahead. You can see where he is still raw but that flow will come with experience. Je’Von with the win

Natalya facing Roxanne Perez for the Women’s NXT title. Nattie was really taking it to Roxy but thanks to Lola Vice, Roxy got the win with the assist.

**This year’s WWE draft will be held on Friday, April 26 starting on Smackdown and finishing on April 29th on RAW.

Oba Femi was in the ring talking to the crowd. Ivar from the Viking Raiders has shown up. This could be a good match-up. Ivar showed his hand, laying out Oba in the ring and walking away. It’s the first time anyone has ever laid him out like this.

Axiom/Nathan Frazier in a rematch from Stand and Deliver taking on the WolfDogs (Barron Corbin/Braun Brekker) I couldn’t see how they would leave the belts on Braun/Barron with Braun signed to Smackdown. (what I later read is that they could be moving them up together to take on the Smackdown Tag Champs, Waller and Theory) Axiom/Frazier with the win but The Final Testament showed up making it known that they want the tag titles.

Trick Willams is in the ring chatting about what happened at Stand and Deliver. At the next pay-per-view, it will be against Ilja for the title but if Trick loses he leaves NXT. With a sneak attack, Carmel Hayes is not happy that the lost and wants Trick in a Steel Cage.

Fallout on RAW from Wrestlemania

20,248 fans in the house for the first RAW post-Wrestlemania.

There are always many surprises during this show. (the draft is also coming)

Triple H is out to thank the Universe for the amazing weekend. Telling them that we have entered a new era. Before Triple left the ring he introduced Cody, as the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Triple H shared a video that a couple of guys (from production) have put together post-show on Night 2. To honour Cody.

Just as we all thought Cody was finished, Rock came out. Basically, he is telling Cody that he will be gone for a bit. (off filming a movie) but when he returns there is a score to settle.

**MATCH 1 — Shinsuke Nakamura facing off against the Men’s NXT Title winner Ilja Dragunov. (that was a surprise when he came out) Shuin and Ilja are evenly matched in this match, both having their hands full with each other. What amazes me is the high pain tolerance that Ilja has. Ilja with the win. Will be interesting to see where Ilja can get drafted to. He and Gunther had a great rivalry in NXT and I wonder if it is in the cards for a return.

**MATCH 2 — Tag match between Awesome Truth against Judgement Day( Finn, Dirty Dom, J.D.) Basically, it was a 3 — 2 handicapped match but it wouldn’t stay that way as John Cena would come out of nowhere to help Awesome Truth win the match.

**MATCH 3 — Indi Hartwell facing off against NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. You knew how this one would end. Roxy was so full of herself and doing whatever it would take to get the win.

**MATCH 4 — Sami Zayn is going to the ring to discuss this win against Gunther. Imperium was out to put Sami down, telling him they would do what was needed to embarrass him. Sami in a tag match with Chad Gable for the win. (Sami is defending the title next week against Chad)

**MATCH 5 — Jade Cargill facing Chelsea Green. This match didn’t last long, Jade will be a force to be reckoned with. Would love to see Jade and Bianca as Tag Champions.

**MATCH — was a Fatal 4 way for the #1 contenders to face Damien Priest at the next P.P.V. Jey Uso, Broson Reed, Drew Mcintyre and Ricochet. Give the assist to CM Punk taking out Drew McIntyre, Jey Uso heads off to face Damien.

Wrestlemania 2024 Night 2

The night opens with the World Heavyweight title on the line between Seth Rollins facing Drew McIntyre.

For the first 2 matches, CM Punk is at ringside with the Commentary team.

*Match 1 — Seth Rollins Defending the World Heavyweight Title. Everyone knew that Drew had turned into a right royal heel and would stop at night to win the title. Seth is coming in injured, thanks to the tag match with Cody from night 1. Drew wins the title, once Seth is outside the ring, Seth turns to look at Drew and tell him that he deserves it. Drew is more concerned about rubbing CM’s nose in it that he might be champion now if Drew had not taken him out. (5 minutes 45 seconds Drew held the belt) Punk dropped Drew on the announcer’s Table. Out of nowhere, Damien Priest comes to the ring to cash in his contract. With an assist from Punk, Damien is the new World Heavyweight champion

*MATCH 2 — 6-man Philadelphia Street Fight between Final Testament facing Street Profits/Bobby Lashley. Bubba Ray is the guest ref but in the end, Bubba pulled out the glasses he used to wear when he wrestled. It was pretty good, bringing a bit of humour. It was great to finally see Bobby/Street Profits finally get the upper hand with a win.

*MATCH 3 — L.A. Knight facing A.J Styles. This will get malicious, to say the least, there is no love loss between the two. Styles has felt all along that Knight stole his place in line so to speak when it came to who would challenge for major titles. You could see that the Ref gave them both leeway but pulled it back in when needed. Thanks to the patterned B.F.T by Knight, L.A. takes the win. (I was glad on this one, I don’t think it will end the fued but good to see Knight finally get one up on him.)

*MATCH 4 — Kevin Owens/Randy Orton/Logan Paul — Sami met Kevin just as he was ready to walk into gorilla, telling him to go get it. We all know that a pair of brass knuckles would play a part. (I can’t stand Paul, and I also have no clue why they have the belt on him, In my opinion, Logan has just had everything handed to him, I will admit that he has adjusted well but the attitude of being better than everyone else (heel) is getting old. The brass knuckles thing is getting old, just once I would love to see him win a match with no help) Logan Paul keeps the belt a little longer.

*MATCH 5 — The Women’s Smackdown title on the line has Bayley facing Iyo Skye. This will be a hell of a fight but it’s time for some packback after everything that Damage Control has done to her. It was back and forth for the whole match, Iyo got too full of herself at times, trying to rub things in Bayley’s face that she would always be better than her. Things that Bayley tried, Iyo had scouted, having an answer for things. Bayley in the end would stand tall, taking the belt from Iyo.

*MATCH 6 — MAIN EVENT — Cody Rhodes facing Roman Reigns for the Undisputed World Title. It was with bloodline rules, which means, what Roman can do, so can Cody. Roman walked to the ring with Paul Heyman carrying the Undisputed Title. (If you have not seen Paul Heyman’s Hall of Fame Induction speech, go look it up. In my book, it was one of the best next to the Undertaker back in 2022. )

Charles Robinson is the Ref for the match, Charles was known as “Little Nature” when he worked with Rick Flair

Pinfall or submission must happen inside the ring.

At one point Cody pulled a table out, and Roman put it back away, telling Cody that we were going to do this the right way.

Roman had the balls to try a Cody Crossrhodes to pin Cody but it was a screaming failure. (What an insult to Cody)

The first to show up to help Roman was Jimmy Uso, Jey won’t be far behind. Here comes Jay, who spears Jimmy off the Ramp into tables.

Samantha, you better move because here comes Cody with a wicked spear on Roman.

Cody had Roman after two Crossroads, just to do the third one, out of nowhere, here is Solo Sokia with a spike. Roman dragged Roman over Cody but Cody kicked out. Again

Solo showing his frustration when out of nowhere, John Cena’s music starts. (Hubby spotted John’s bald spot on the back of his head)If you remember Solo took out John a year ago at Wrestlemania 39. John put Solo through the Spanish announcement table. Just as John was turning around, the Rock’s music started. John facing off against the Rock is giving Cody/Roman a chance to rest. Just as Rock is screaming at Cody to get up, you hear “The Shield” music. Roman takes Seth out, who is dressed in full Shield gear. The boys used to enter from the crowd, that is where the Rock was looking but Seth came in from behind.

Rock is screaming at Cody to get up but then you hear a gong, it’s the Undertaker, and Rock looks like he has seen a ghost. As fast as he was there he was gone, Rock has rolled outside the ring (I saw post footage to see what happened).

3 Cody crossroads in a row with Charles Robinson counting 1,2,3 for the win. You could see the grin on Charles’s face as he handed Cody the belt for the first time.

Joining Cody/Brandy in the ring to start celebrating were L.A. Knight, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, John Cena, and Jey Uso. Randy Orton also comes out to celebrate. CM Punk has joined the celebration. Kevin Owens went to get Cody’s Mom and other family members.

Cody asks for Bruce Prichard and Triple H to come out, joining him in the ring.

It was very important to Cody for Michael Cole to call this match. He went over to Cole at ringside, and gave him a huge hug, Not sure what they said to each other but you could hear Cody say that “We went all the way together”. Cole told him that he loved him, and Cody returned the sentiment, shaking hands with Cory, “Thanks Cody” and Pat congratulated him.

As Kevin is helping Seth off to the Medical, they stop at the ring, and Cody leads out through the ropes to accept Seth’s handshake. Cody thanks him for all he did.

This was the best Wrestlemania in my view for a heap of reasons. It’s going to be interesting to see how things start building for the next PLE which is in Lyon, France at Backlash

Thanks for everything

Cricket

NXT Stand and Deliver

NXT has gotten better and better at building stories especially heading into PLE’s. (paid live event)

**MATCH 1 — Axiom/Nathan Frazer taking on Braun Brekker/Barrcon Corbin for the NXT Men’s tag belts. With Braun singed to Smackdown, I could see the belts changing hands. I’m not sure what would happen with Barron Corbin, with moving the belts. This was a great match to open the show. The belts remain with the champions Barron/Braun.

**MATCH 2 — Triple threat match with Dijak, Josh Briggs facing the North American Title holder Oba Femi. It was going to take a miracle for Dijak or Josh to pull off a win. Oba has the speed along with strength for a big fella. Triple Threat Rules means anything can happen, Oba doesn’t need to be involved in the pin to lose his title. The average weight of the guys is 270 pounds. In the end, it would be Oba Femi who will continue as North American champion. (Josh Briggs has 2 cracked ribs)

**MATCH 3 — 6 woman tag team match with Jacy Jayne, Kiana James and Izzi Dame (with Jazmyn Nvx — left arm in a sling) facing Fallon Henley, Kelani Jordon, Thea Hail. I am happy to see that they have taken Thea back to her feisty self, not taking crap from anyone. It looks like the ref was told to give some leeway with this match, wanting a win. It was Thea making Izzi Dane tap out. (Fallon looked like she was missing something, celebrating that win. maybe her boys.

Ava has announced that there will be a belt for the first Women’s NXT North American Title

**Match 4 — NXT Women’s Title on the line between Roxanne Perez facing Lyra Valkyria. You know this match would be brutal for both wrestlers. Roxy would stop at nothing to ensure she took the title, claiming what was rightfully hers. Roxanne has done a very nasty heel turn. It’s that nastiness along with targeting the already damaged arm of Lyra that got the job done for Roxy.

**MATCH 5 — The Men’s NXT Belt on the line between Tony D’Angelo facing Ilja Dragunov. This was a great storyline. It was built well, really finding ways to get you invested. The title has changed hands 4 times over Wrestlemania weekends. It was going to turn into an all-out war, The D’Angelo family at ringside stayed out of it for the most part. Stacks tried to give Tony a set of Brass Knuckles, but Tony told him, not this way. Once again, Stacks tried to interfere and Tony told him no, it’s my fight. Ilja kissed Tony on both cheeks and told him it was just business, which fired Tony up. With the reliable H-Bomb Ilja holds onto the title. (Ilja has such a high tolerance to pain.) A handshake in the middle of the ring is a sign of respect between the two.

Stand and Deliver attendance record, 16, 545

**MATCH 6 — Is the Main Event between Trick William facing off against Carmelo Hayes. It’s going to get nasty, Ava has told the Ref to use his judgment but she wants a winner tonight, It’s The first time in NXT history that two black men have been in the Main Event. Carmelo is what I call the resident bully, No one can outshine him. No one will ever be as good as him. Trick with the win. Needless to say, Carmelo is not happy at all about this.

Wrestlemania Night One

It’s 8:30 Sunday Morning here in Australia, I got my coffee but even I am nervous.

Michael Cole is calling his 23rd Wrestlemania

**MATCH 1 — Women’s RAW title on the line between Rhea Ripley defending against Becky Lynch. Rhea is from my Aussie home town Adelaide but I am choosing Becky. It was a hell of a fight, Becky does not have Rhea’s strength. Rhea Ripley continues with the RAW Women’s Title.

**MATCH 2 — 6-Pack Ladder match for the Tag Team titles. They have been split RAW/Smackdown both sets of belts need to be claimed for the match to end. DIY/Awesome Truth/The New Catch Republic/Judgement Day/Waller and Theory/New Day. Being a ladder match, anything goes, there is no disqualification. Smackdown titles have been won by Waller/Theory, and Awesome Truth is the proud owner of the RAW tag team titles.

**MATCH 3 — Rey Mysterio/Andrade facing Dom Mysterio/Santos Escobar — Never say that coming, with some help from 2 of the Philadelphia Eagles Rey Mysterio/Andrade with the win. It was a little messy but it was a really good match

**MATCH 4 — Brother versus Brother as JImmy Uso faces off against Main Event Jey Uso. This will not be pretty. Jey has entered first. Question — will there be interference and from whom? No interference from anyone with Jey getting the win. Will this bring them back together or will it be a permanent split?

**MATCH 5 — Jade Cargill/Bianca Belair/Naomi facing Damage Control — This should be a good strong match, will be interesting to see if the mist makes an appearance or if it’s a legitimate match. Thanks to miscommunication by Damage Control along with the myst, Jade/Bianca and Naomi with the win.

**Match 6 — Sami Zayn facing Gunther for the Intercontentional Title. Sami is the underdog once again but will Chad Gable play heel and stop Sami from Winning. Even with all the trash-talking, playing possum.Sami with the win. Congratulations to Sami. Sami is the best when he is the underdog.

**MATCH 7 — Cody/Seth facing Rock/Roman in a tag match. Cody/Seth win and there’s no interference for the match with Cody/Roman. Rock/Roman win and its Bloodline rules, which means anything goes. I want Cody/Seth to win but I have a feeling to set up tomorrow night’s match Rock/Roman will win. This match has been better than I expected to be honest. It’s been Bloodline rules all night, Rock has even threatened the refs with firing them if they do anything but favour Rock/Roman.

Well, I told you in a way, it was nuts, to say the least, It was a good match but Bloodline rules already which will make things even more interesting. Anything can and will happen tomorrow. Will the rumours be true that Rock will turn on Roman? Who will come to help Cody finish the story?

Saturday Attendance is 72,543

Thanks for joining me today. See you for Part 2 tomorrow
