(It was a long night as I watched things play out live. I was surprised by some things, not surprised by others and on a couple of things I am still going what?! )
Jeddah is a beautiful city.
This will be an interesting night. Expect anything to happen.
The card was set but changed at the last minute to help Seth Rollins. Seth is filming a movie, and they worked things out for him to go to Night of Champions, Seth had to return to the set to finish filming.
The ladies must be covered to their wrists and can’t show any bare legs. The card has changed over the years, the first time there was only one women’s match. On this trip, there are 3 women’s matches on the card.
***Money in the Bank is July 1 at the O2 arena in London. Qualifying matches start on Monday night on RAW and will continue on Smackdown.
**MATCH 1 — World Heavyweight title match. A.J. Styles faces off against Seth Rollins. I expect this match to be amazing, there is everything on the line with this one. (A.J. was out for 4 months with a broken ankle. Ring Rust with A.J.?) I wish you could see what Seth is wearing. They are not disappointing, they are throwing everything at each other. A.J. just dropped Seth on the back of his head on the ring apron. A.J. with the calf crusher on the tweaked knee of Seth. What timing, A.J. coming with the forearm but Seth nailed him with a superkick. Seth with a stomp finally pins A.J. It was all that it lived up to, it was a hell of a match. (I am not surprised by the outcome of this one. It was an amazing match, had everything that was expected and more. Triple H presents Seth with the belt. )
**MATCH 2 — Becky Lynch faces off against Trish Stratus. This fued will continue to Summerslam. (Becky/Trish both requested to work together. Trish looks amazing after all these years. Trish is playing the heel. Hoping that Becky can find her nasty streak, I think this fued will need it) Trish trash talking to Becky, once close enough Becky punched Trish in the face. This match has actually been better than expected, they are not holding back tonight. Zoey Stark sticks her nose in where it doesn’t belong, helping Trish with the win.
**MATCH 3 — For the Intercontentional Title defence has Gunter facing off against Mustafa Ali. Gunther has held the title for almost a year. I agree with Michael Cole, I can’t see anyone taking the title from him anytime soon. Mustafa has a chance here but I really can’t see the title change. I hope they give it the respect it deserves. Ali keeps showing life in this match but Gunther seems to find a way to stop the momentum. Gunter had enough, making Ali pay once again but taking it to him. Gunter keeps the title. It’s a rare match to see Gunter rocked by his opponent.
**MATCH 4 — RAW Women’s Championship match between title holder Bianca Belair facing Asuka. It’s going to be nasty, to say the least. Bianca needs to watch for the mist, that Askua can use at any time. Asuka has turned heel, and Bianca is going to be in trouble. ( Rumour is that Bianca may be turning heel, along with the Street Profits. Wouldn’t that be a faction to deal with, put them up against Judgement Day.) Asuka keeps trying different submission hold but Bianca keeps finding ways to escape. ( Just wondering if Bianca needs a bit of a fresh up, lose the braid?) Asuka keeps using the braid any time she can make it work to her advantage. (Even Jennifer, the Ref must wear long sleeves under her Ref shirt.) Thanks to a rake of the eyes with fingers covered in blue mist, Asuka is now the RAW Womens Champion. (I am not sure why they moved the belt of Bianca, to give Asuka one last run or to keep this storyline moving on to Summerslam.)
**MATCH 5 — Smackdown Women’s title match has Rhea defending against Nayalya. Of course, Dom is with Rhea, so I expect him to stick his nose in. I don’t even understand this match. There is no real storyline here unless Natty is getting ready to retire soon. Needless to say, Natalya never had a chance. This match was a joke more a less. took up space, and wasted time on the card but all titles had to be defended.
**MATCH 6 — Cody Rhodes facing Brock Lesner. This will be ugly from the start. Brock did break Cody’s are on RAW last Monday night. Cody is working with a cast on his right arm. Not sure how bad the break was. Once Cody realized he could use the cast as a weapon, it was on. Brock put Cody in the Kamora Lock 3 to 4 times, finally, the pain took over, with Cody passing out. Once the bell rang, Brock refused to break the hold but he finally did. I can see a rubber match at Summerslam, this war is not over by a long shot.
**Match 7 — Tag Team titles on the line as Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens defend against Roman Reigns/Solo Sokia. Roman has treated Jimmy and Jey Uso like dirt this entire time. The twins did all of Roman’s dirty work along with Solo to make sure that Roman kept the belts. Roman is so full of himself that it was a formality that he and Solo would beat Sami/Kevin and bring the belts back. (From what I have read, the WWE Universe is so over this story it needs to end, sooner the better, remains to be seen what will happen at Summerslam. (The rumour is Roman is taking time off. Once against the Smackdown belts will not be defended anytime soon.) It was hard at times to hear Michael/Cory with the crowd keeping the noise up. Roman just speared the Ref so its now on for young and old. Jimmy/Jey have showed up, trying to help Roman/Solo. Jimmy just superkicked Roman, the cracks are growing.
Thanks to Jimmy/Jey, Kevin/Sami are still the undisputed Tag Team Champions.
