Morning,
First, I apologize for the lack of show notes last week. I had to take a mental health week. I am doing heaps better and will be back on board this week.
**Summerslam in 2026 will be two nights. Minneapolis was rewarded after Las Vegas won the right to host Wrestlemania. August 1 and 2 are the dates. Hubby Phil commented that the show feels rushed splitting the show, can slow the pace a bit but also give much-needed time to matches. Giving the Women a chance to better shine.
**King and Queen of the Ring. — The show went pretty much as I expected it to.
**Preshow — The Women’s Tag Team titles were on the line with Bianca/Jade defending against Indy Hartwell/ Candace LeRae. I am impressed with how well, Bianca/Jade have become a team in a short time. It can take months of working together to find that trust. Tag teams take an amount of trust, which they seem to have established already. It was a good match that didn’t last too long but long enough to help tell the story. Jade/Bianca continue as Women’s Tag Champions
**Main Show — The Women’s Raw title was on the line as Becky Lynch defended against Liv Morgan. Liv would settle for nothing less than taking the title from Becky. After Liv had injured Rhea, taking her out til at least Summerslam. Everything was great until Dirty Dom showed up, trying to help Becky keep the title, but Liv took advantage of the chair in the ring, stealing the win.
**Triple Threat Match for the Intercontentional Championship title. Sami Zayn/Bronson Reed/Chad Gable. This would make for quite an interesting match, with just the size difference alone. Otis is at ringside with Chad but the first question would be what part would Otis play in helping Chad to win the title. It was hard at times to hear Cole/Cory as the universe was so loud. With a triple threat, it was anything goes but you have to make the pin inside the ring. I am still amazed at the amount of movement that Bronson has being such a big guy. Most guys in his weight group should not be able to do flips off the top ropes like he can. Thanks to help from Otis, Sami was able to pin Bronson in the ring for the win.
**Queen of the Ring Final — Lyra Valkyria facing Nia Jax. I had a strong feeling that it would be Nia winning when all is said and done. Lyra has the speed but Nia has the strength to overpower, but also to hurt her opponent. Lyra would have her moments to shine but it would be Nia with the power for the win. Nia will be heading to Summerslam for a match with Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s title.
**King of the Ring Final — Gunther in his first meeting with Randy Orton. I was hoping that this match would be given the time it needed to tell a story that could be amazing. You could see at the beginning that Randy/Gunter getting frustrated, finding their way, waiting for that mistake. Gunther would come out on top but looking at the replays you can see that Randy’s left shoulder was not on the mat. Let’s hope that there is a rematch called because it was not a true win. (in my book)
**Main Event — Cody Rhodes defending the World Title against Logan Paul. As much as Logan swore that he would not use the brass knuckles even hubby Phil called him a liar, knowing full well, they would make an appearance. Thanks to Logan’s buddies at ringside making sure he had a pair. Cole called out to Logan, and he threatened to take Cole out. In the end, Cody would get the win, (I was not in doubt). I just wanted Cody to teach Logan a thing or two. The frustration of not being able to put Cody away once and for all got the better of Logan. I will give him this, Logan Paul is good BUT he has no respect for the ring, the craft of the squared circle. Until he does, he gets no respect from a lot of people, including me.
Thanks for taking the time to catch up. See you soon. the next PLE with NXT is June 9 for Battleground in Las Vegas. The WWE is on the road again off to Scotland for the Clash in the Castle on June 15th
