Crown Jewel 2024

I forgot about the triple threat match for the United States Title currently held by L.A. Knight. Andrade and Carmelo Hayes also took part.

It has been interesting watching the behind-the-scenes show and hearing some of what they had to go through to get permission to bring the ladies. The first show was Natalya facing Lacey Evans. Tonight there are 10 ladies involved in the show.

The Crown Jewel belts will stay in Riyadh but the winners will be gifted a ring. It looks as big as the Super Bowl rings.

(I have seen the results but not watched the show until the writing of this blog)

**Opening match — Solo Sokia, his Bloodline facing Roman Reigns. The Uso’s. Roman has entered with Jimmy, waiting for Jay Uso, (entering through the crowd. Even Cole is yeeting) It has taken a bit but Roman is finally in the ring facing Solo. Well, I figured that the ref would get pulled into it, which he was. 2 spikes took out Roman for Solo to get the win. (Hopefully now Roman realizes that they need more help along with Jimmy and Jey. The odds need to be evened up, somehow. Trying to put Roman through a table. They won’t stop until taking Roman out. Here comes Sami Zayn to the ring. Not sure what this is all about. (Jey is sitting with a chair around his neck, Solo trying to take him out) Solo got out of the way of that spear but Roman took it, It was not Sami’s intention to hit Roman. Sami was just trying to help. I hated seeing Roman pinned but if this is setting up War Games then so be it.

**MATCH 2 — Women’s Tag Team Titles are on the line as Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defend against Damage Control, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson. 2 ladies in the ring at any time and you can tag in whoever you want. (Daphanie LaShaunn is the female ref in this match) It’s always insane in a fatal 4-way. Bianca pinned Piper Niven with an assist from Jade Cargill. Bianca and Jade retain their titles. Huge credit to Lash and Jakara, they may not won but they have gotten a heap of experience under their belt.

**ROYAL RUMBLE on February 1

**MATCH 3 — Seth Rollins facing Bronson Reed in a war. This was not going to be pretty in any respect of the word. The ref had to give a lot of leeway to this match, It almost turned into a last-man standing combined with a street fight. It was a good 10 minutes before the match actually got started. It was tough but Seth got the win. Bronson has speed and can move well off the top ropes. Most Men that size are not able to do what Bronson can.

**MATCH 4 — Nia Jax versus Liv Morgan for the first Women’s Crown Jewel champion. I wanted Nia to win this but knowing that Dom and Raquel would lurk in the shadows gave Liv the edge. Tiffany Straton bolting to ringside, to cash in her briefcase but against who was never answered. Tiff tried to cash in a second time but Raquel stopped her. Dom finally showed up and gave the assist to Raquel and Dom. Typical Judgement Day crap again.

**MATCH 5 — Kevin Owens facing Randy Orton. This match never officially got started as things turned into an all-out brawl. The chatter I have been reading is that Kevin is turning heel. At this point, Kevin is not scheduled for a match at Survivor Series but I have read that a match between Cody and Kevin could take place.

**MATCH 6 — Triple Threat Match with L.A. Knight defending his United States title against Carmelo Hayes and Andrade. Most of the match was Hayes and Andrade going at it with the occasional spots of Knight getting stuck into both of them. Everyone had moments controlling the match but in the end, it was L.A.Knight standing tall keeping his belt.

**MATCH 7 — Cody Rhodes versus Gunther for the Men’s Crown Jewel Title. (Cody eliminated Gunther from the 2023 and 2024 Royal Rumbles) Gunther came to the match, with the attitude that he had this match in the bag. That is so much better than Cody, it was just a formality. Things started out slow but they finally found their rhythm. Gunther still looks awkward going to the top rope but he is getting more comfortable. In the end, it was Cody Rhodes with the win. I was hoping that Cody would take this. I am not a fan of Gunther. I was worried that Ludwig would interfere but glad he didn’t.

The Crown Jewel belt has 3,273 embedded stones, 50 carats of Diamonds and 250 Carat weight. All emeralds are Australian Crystals.
