Night One
“At this rate, the WWE furniture budget is going to be higher than the pyrotechnics. Those announce tables didn’t just ‘give their lives’—they were victims of a corporate hit job coordinated by a ‘Wise Man’ and a guy named Jelly.”
“Somewhere in the back, the stage crew is frantically glueing toothpicks together just so the Night 2 announcers have a place to put their water bottles. It’s a bad day to be made of plywood in Las Vegas!”
OPENING MATCH — Six-Man Tag Match: The Vision (Logan Paul & Austin Theory) & IShowSpeed vs. The Usos & LA Knight. Jimmy/Jey are entering through the crowd. L.A. Knight arrived in a special painted truck. The Usos and Knight made short work of The Vision. It was I Show Speed who cost Vision the match. The Usos took out Paul, I Show Speed with a massive splash off the turn buckle to Logan, who was laid out on the announcer’s table.
MATCH 2— Unsanctioned Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu. Expect this to be brutal—the perfect match for the “exhausting” intensity that this should bring. That was intense and nastier than any street fight. This is one of those matches that is hard to summarise. Jacob wins.
MATCH 6 — Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Liv Morgan. — This has been brewing for weeks, turning into an all-out war. Will be interesting to see if Liv arrives alone or if someone (Dom, Roxanne or Raquel) arrives with her, or comes to help. I would not put it past her. SIGH — not happy about this one. It was a damn good match til Judgement Day got involved. I knew it. This sets up a good rematch, though.
MATCH 4 — Women’s Intercontinental Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Becky Lynch. This is a huge homecoming for AJ Lee on the grandest stage. I am hearing Rumours that this could be Becky’s final Wrestlemania. There is baby talk. Becky stole the win and put her hands on Jess (ref). Well, more boring trash talk. (for me, Becky being the heel is old. I will give credit, she plays it well, but it’s getting stale)
MATCH 3 — Women’s Tag Team Championship (Fatal 4-Way): Nia Jax & Lash Legend (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria vs. The Bella Twins(Nikki is not medically cleared at this point). Nikki was not cleared. Paige has returned to the WWE and is taking Nikki’s place tonight. It’s been 8 years since Paige last stepped into a WWE ring. OK, did not see that one coming. Paige and Bree with the win. (Nikki had to have surgery on a broken ankle)
Match 5 — Seth Rollins vs. Gunther. Pure technical mastery. Watch what Gunter is wearing to the ring. If it’s his Ring General Coat, it’s on for young and old. If it’s anything else, I am giving Seth the nod. It’s the Ring General coat. Finally got the bell after a mini street fight on the outside. Braun Brekker just speared Seth. Thanks to some help from Brekker, Gunther won. It could have been a super good match, but this sets up the fued for Seth/
The Main Event: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Randy Orton (with Pat McAfee) for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The Twist: If Orton loses, Pat McAfee must leave the professional wrestling industry forever. This is the ultimate “high stakes” match. Well, that was RUDE. Pat walked up and took the mic out of Alicia’s hand to introduce Randy. Before the bell rang, Pat and Randy tried to take out Cody, but Cody turned the tables, taking out Pat with a crossroads. Jelly Role with an elbow on the announcer’s table, taking out Pat. Finally got the bell. It was finally a WAR to say the least. Randy had taken out Charles Robinson, trying for a low blow, but Cody blocked it. Pat Macfee came running out with a ref shirt on, but was trying to steal the win. It was a low blow that Cody managed to hit Randy with, also with a crossroads to get the 3 count with Charles Robinson.
John was in the ring to give the attendance for night one. 50, 816. (after Bianca’s announcement, John said it should be 50, 817)A Surprise appearance by Bianca Belair. Her music started, and it was pop. She is joining John Cena in the ring. Bianca unzipped her beautiful jacket to reveal a baby bump.
The two biggest pops of the night go to the ladies of WWE with Paige’s return and Bianca’s baby announcement
